  Recycling

At Consett Academy we have launched projects in school to encourage both staff and students to recycle. These projects involve waste in the canteen and also the rubbish generated in classrooms.
Following a visit to Lister Waste Management, we looked at ways to reduce the waste in the canteen. We installed 3 types of bins to use.

As you can see we recycle not only paper, but food and plastic as well.

  In the classroom

On one of the Erasmus days, students did a poll of how much rubbish was not being recycled within each department. As you can see English and Humanities were wasting lots of opportunities to recycle paper.
Our students created Paper recycling boxes and placed one in every classroom. Every week the students collect and empty the paper, and make sure it gets sent to be recycled.
You can see one of the boxes being used in a classroom.
