  Green Visits

  At Consett Academy

  Lister Waste Management

To help launch our Recycling Campaign in school we had the advice and guidance of a company called "Lister Recycling and Waste Management". We were very fortunate to be able to speak with an employee from Lister Waste who told us some facts that really shocked us all.
Firstly, he said the average person generates over 4 pounds of trash every day. Unbelievable! Then he said that the average person generate 10 million tons of food waste each year that can’t be recycled which made us want to change the schools ways even more. Finally, recycling one aluminium can saves enough energy to listen to a full album on your iPod. Recycling 100 cans could light your bedroom for two whole weeks. All these facts gave us even more reason to create and promote a campaign within school to help with the recycling. After we heard from the employee from Lister Recycling and Waste Management, we separated into different groups. The Assembly group, the Digital Image group and the mascot group. Here are some examples of the work that we produced to launch our campaign.
 Planting trees
Planting trees
We visited a local charity which looks after the woodland and we planted trees to help.
To understand how renewable energy works and it's application we had a visit to a company that use it. We were able to understand how it is used and put in to practice.
